Does anyone know the name/ names of this quilt block? I want to possibly use it in a quilt but since I don't know what to call it I'm having a hard time searching for it.

There is a similar quilt block called Ferris Wheel, pattern on this blog
http://karengriskaquilts.blogspot.ca...d-pattern.html

It has 9 pieces instead of 7..........
Although I'm not sure that you really need a pattern.
I did make something very similar many years ago as a reversible quilt.

I am pretty sure it is a PP block.

It kind of looks like the block from a Rob Appell YouTube link that someone posted? It was called the Burst Block.

A fan block?

Tartan , I was just going to post what you did. The burst block was a recent tutorial.

Did you see this block somewhere or did you just draw it yourself? F&P had an episode with a similar looking block on it....made by Nolte, don't remember her first name...she is on their staff and I do believe that block was in one of the magazines........or it's variation of your pic......

The ferris wheel pattern would be an easier one to do. Look at the sections in each block and you will see they do not all end in the corner. It is as close to identical as you will get to your pattern. I don't think all the seams will fit right when you sew the blocks together. They will all be in one corner. The ferris wheel pattern solves this by not having all the seams in one corner.

This is a really cool pattern and please keep us posted as to what you do and show us the progress as you go. I'm going to like this.
peace

That's a great looking pattern.

I have drawn a similar pattern to use with PP but I must tell you that having all those points meat in the same place is a really big challenge. Just reminding you of this. Good luck.
