I have a vintage/antique quilt that I love. Its a very simple block but I can't seem to find the name of the block. One 12" block is made up of four sections. Each section is a square surrounded by four wonky triangles. Here are pictures of three blocks. Can someone tell me the name of the block? Thanks for looking.

wonky square???

Today we would call that wonky square, or dancing square, but back when it was made it probably had another name.

I thought we modern quilters invented the wonky setting.... very impressive that it was done way back then.

Looked it up for you. It is called The Radio Windmill, KC Star 10/22/41, or Windmill, Nancy Cabot from Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns. I kind of like the wonky square name myself.

Thanks for finding it for me. I googled the name and even found templates for it. If its from 1941 I guess its vintage, not antique which is at least 100 years old. But hey... its older than me, I'm circa 1944 lol I just found it on BlockBase as The Radio Windmill. Thanks again for your help.

A cute modern version. You know my vintage quilt is set together with yellow sashing and golden yellow border and each time I look at it I think, "What a happy quilt!" Guess it can be a happy quilt however one makes it! Thanks for posting.

It is so funny that when you see something, all of a sudden you see it everywhere! Saw this in my emails today: https://kathleenquilts.com/2017/06/21/dixon-quilt/

Thanks to you I now have another quilt in progress... Here is a pix of the old quilt with my new block laying beside it. (My block is the one with green in the print) and here is another new lilac block I just finished! Thank you so very much!
