Name for "product"?

My sister took one of my table runners (Christmas fabric on one side and patriotic on the other) to use in her office. She says her office is cold and this warms her hands and makes the place less institutional looking. She thinks I should start selling them as office decor, but I don't know what to call them. Any ideas? Here's a picture:

desk mats?

desk warmers?

desk runners?

office cheer?

keyboard stabilizers.

GEMRM 07-24-2016 05:29 AM

Great idea! You might have to put something non-slip on one side? Some people have those keyboard sections on their desk that they tilt. You could offer both versions? Good luck!

DebraK 07-24-2016 05:33 AM

lol, I do this. How about desk cozy? I don't think it would catch on, but it is a fun idea. Make a few. Get your sister to move some where she works. See what happens.

these are good ones. And maybe provide non-slip shelving liner. You can buy a large roll for a buck at a discount dollar store.

Cubby cozy?

ManiacQuilter2 07-24-2016 06:17 AM

I am surprise that a mouse would work on a quilt surface.

QuiltE 07-24-2016 12:04 PM

Great idea!

Perhaps make a Mug Rug to complete the ensemble! :)

How about the desk buddy!

The table I use for computing has a quilt over it, so I use my mouse all the time with it.

Keyboard rug. I would have loved one of those when I was working. Very cute. And have a matching mug rug.

GailG 07-24-2016 03:49 PM

Many great ideas here. I love the idea of making a mug rug to match.

nellie 07-24-2016 05:13 PM

I am, too. I might have to try it and see

I like Mouse Pad.

quiltingcandy 07-24-2016 07:05 PM

So people don't have to ask too many questions I would probably go with Keyboard Rug.

My keyboard sat on a lower tray - so would have put it in front of my monitors for all to see. Then maybe call it a Desk Cloth. (Thinking like table cloth.)

DOTTYMO 07-24-2016 10:49 PM

If it over lapped the desk you. Could put pockets in to make a real tidy. I would make different widths as some may only want one the size of the keyboard.

Does make the area more personal.

My "mouse pad" is uncut stack of whatever fabric I've been cutting recently -- currently flannel.
I vote for desk cozy or desk warmer for product name.

osewme 07-25-2016 09:47 AM

Great idea. Even if you had a mouse that might not work on the keyboard rug, you could get a piece of clear plastic to put on top in the area that you use the mouse. That way you could still use the mouse but be able to see through the plastic & not loose the look of the rug.

Pennyhal 07-25-2016 10:56 AM

Cute idea! I think it'd be difficult to advertise.

Quilt Novice 07-25-2016 11:29 AM

How about a Cube Cozy?

JanieH 07-26-2016 10:11 AM

I like all the suggestions. Maybe advertise that you would also make them to order (size, color?).

I hope you keep us updated on your idea!
