Does anyone know the name of this quilt I took the picture of it at our Senior Center.

I am sorry I don't know the name of it but thank you for posting a photo. This quilt pattern is a great way to use up scrappy 4 patches and add the dark fabrics to give your eyes a place to rest.

Looks to be alternating 4 patch and hour glass blocks to give the illusion of an on point setting.

Nice. It looks like a four patch in square set on point to me. There probably is a pattern somewhere with a name on it.

Tallchick, I think you nailed it. Bet it has a name or two or three, so MaryKa make it and name it what you wish. I agree a good way to use up odds and ends, bits and pieces or to help clear out the stash bin. Any size blocks would do from the tiny to the large. I like the black consistent color with the plaids but any color would work: red or green with Christmas prints, brown with golds and oranges and rusty red for fall. Oh I could go on and on. Time to stop dreaming give it a go. .

Looks like the same blocks as Jenny Doan's Alter Ego, but with more controlled use of the black for the hour glass block

It is a take on 16 patch and pinwheels, using 4 patches and a controlled palate for the pinwheels. It can also be made with 9 patches. I have used it on several occasions. The overall effect makes the pattern look much more difficult that it really is.

When I look at this, I see scrappy four patches as the inside of square in a square. Some are surrounded by scraps and the others are surrounded by black....alternating them in assembly.

I agree that this is simply a 4-patch alternating with a QST, using a constant dark in the QST and alternating the orientation of the QST row by row. Just decide on the size block you want and off you go.

I agree. I think this would be the easiest way to make it, also.
