Name tags
I would like to make name tags for a quilt retreat this summer. Prefer the kind with a strap that will go around your neck. Any recommendations for a pattern?
Thank you |

Here's a pattern that I have used.
https://www.annemariechany.com/blog/...ow-to-sew.html To cut the costs, I either use hardware from old lanyards, totes, bags, etc. or buy lanyards at the $ $tore and take off the hardware. To use for sewing, I add scissors, and a little pin cushion. It helps me keep track of all I need when I am doing handwork. I know some do, but I don't like using it when at the machine. Googling lanyard patterns, a nice one comes up from skiptomylou under Fabric lanyard pattern(Teacher gift with printable)

Very cute ideas!

I've had my eye on this pattern... Has a nice flat 5"x7" bag that hangs around your neck and displays name tags. Money, cards and D/L can go inside, an there are pockets on the back for pens and eyeglasses. Great for quilt shows and classes, where you want your hands free.

Whatever you use, make sure it’s soft against your skin. I need to “fix” my Guild name tag, it scratches my neck. I think the thing worn around your neck with pin cushion, etc is called “Chatellaine” - it’s what Victorian ladies used. Not sure if I spelled it correctly. Someplace I have directions for it.

I make name tags every year for our quilt retreat: took a photo of the lodge, printed them then embroidered names under and added pocket at back; another is square with batting then folded diagonally with name embroidered in lower triangle (open and use for pin cushion). I bought folding scissors on eBay.

A chatalaine went around one's waist and usually the "lady of the manor" wore the official keys around her waist.

I made lanyards also. I bought the hardware and name tags in Staples.

Thanks for the skiptomylou recommedation - I think I'll try that for our fall retreat at www.redlodgeresort.ca
