Silly question, but I'm a Newbie so that's my excuse! : )

Is it quilting custom to choose a name for each quilt I finish?

Thanks so much,
Michelle

too funny - I asked sort of the same question earlier (newbie here as well) WELCOME!

Most of my quilts have ended up with a name by the time they were finished. But I don't think you have to name them.

Hello Michelle & Welcome from Iowa!
You are going to love this board!!

Don't really know so much that it's a custom.
I do name all of my quilts. Guess I do it just because I spend so much time with 'them' I feel they need a name rather than being called "quilt one" or "the blue one I did for Grandma"....etc.

I name mine. I spend a lot of time making them so they get a name just like the kids did.

My first few didn't have names but the others all do.

I don't name mine, unless it was a kit (one) that had a name already. I just call it by whomever it was made for. I don't put labels either. My quilts are all for friends or family. I just write BJ and the year on the binding in a corner.

One of the ladies in my guild also has a business making patterns. She names all her quilts after song titles!
