Dover has a book - something like Native American Designs. Good source by tribes around the country.

Two weeks ago at a craft show there was a booth with Indian motif quilts. They were done with a large central motif - the eagle was my favorite that had been done with squares and hsts blending into a dark background and then a border. It looked like it had been plotted out on graph paper and it was probably three or four inch squares. They came out to bed sized quilts. The gentlemen who was minding the booth was telling me all about the ladies who made them and everything else in the booth and their meaning and connection to the tribe. They had the flimsy tops priced between two and three hundred each - probably very fair as they were all hand sewn and made with good quality solid cottons. pm me if you would like to pick my brain more. You have one lucky daughter - that mama is so ready to go for it. Good luck and hope you go for it -- will be worth it.

Beautiful quilt! I hope Googling the tribe will help. You might also try calling a library in that area to see if they know anything about the tribe. It may be part of a larger tribe that you could Google.

This is the addy for the tribes web site: http://www.wampanoagtribe.net/Pages/index A lot of information here! Have fun reading.

It seems they do weaving. This is a picture of a vase that you could reproduce as a quilt pattern: http://www.wampanoagtribe.net/Pages/...ics/Basket.jpg

How about a lone star design? I did a lone star pattern a few years ago, using the strip method. Hope you find a pattern you like.
