Necktie Quilt Pattern
Hi! I have approx. 2000 neckties that I want to use to make a quilt. I can't seem to find any really special ones. I saw some on Pinterest but can't fid the pattern for the one I liked the most. Does anybody have pattern that they liked or suggestions were to look? Thanks!

It depends on how you want to do a necktie quilt. If you want to retain the original shape then a variation of the Dresden plate works well. If you put necktie quilt in the QB search box some should come up. If you want to cut the ties into piecing shapes then there are lots of patterns you can use But some neckties need special treatment. Wash your ties in the same way you would wash the quilt and see how they act. The ones that hold up well can be opened up, the lining removed and sometimes you will need to fuse them to a lightweight interfacing to stabilize them as all ties are cut on the bias.

There is a book "Daddy's Ties" that has a lot of different patterns using ties, including how get ready to actually use them. Too, Missouri Star had a tutorial just recently but she didn't take down any of the ties, leaving the lining inside. I'd think it would make quite a lot of thickness but sure easier than taking those apart.

I found that Anita has some good information on her blog...not really patterns though.

How about crazy quilt blocks?
Careful when using ties. Some bleed. Martha Stewart uses old silk ties to dye Easter eggs. https://www.marthastewart.com/269788...ie-easter-eggs |
I did a Dresden Plate for my daughter out of her husband's ties. It came out beautifully and is a lovely memory of their twenty years together. It hangs over the fireplace.

Well I made 3 D bowties out of ties. Just Google it. It really turned out well. It was a commission piece as well and was paid very handsomely for it. Unfortunately I don't know how to post a picture from my phone on this board. Otherwise I would share my work.
