need advice on binding
1 Attachment(s)
Just finished this top . But trying to decide color for binding. Should I use the bright color strips that are border around the birds or solid Blue the color of the bluebirds.
Heres a picture with blue. Can't really take one with the mutiple strip because would have to make one, Also Once the quilt is quilted I plan to add a yoyo center and a button in the center of each flower. I just laid the buttons on the flowers to take the picture |
That is a cute quilt. The colors would be pretty for your binding but you may have too many seams
I love your idea of using all the bright colors for your binding. Your quilt is really cute.
I like to bind mine with the same fabric as my last border. Thus, the blue.
I like the blue -- it draws attention to the bluebirds in the center.
I agree. The blue.
Very cute quilt! I vote for the bright color strips!
I really like the blue border and I think your idea of using all of the colors in the binding is a great idea I have made one scrappy binding and was really happy with it. It would look really sharp on this quilt
Multi-colour scrappy binding would look great on your wall hanging
that is so cute! I know it wasn't one of your options, but the yellow of his beak jumped out at me as a good possibility.
I think I would use red!
I go with blue unless can find a stripe with all the colors and then cut the binding on the bias.
It just depends on what you like. If you like the bright binding, then make sure you seams are all pressed OPEN and cut your binding strip. If you don't want your eye to go to the binding, then use the blue. The quilt came out real cute.
I think you have enough interesting things going on that to add a visually-busy binding would be too much. Go with the blue-- that allows the focus to be on the cute bird and flowers.
Multi color!!!!
I don't think the blue of the bluebirds would be a good choice for the binding. Do you have enough of the outer border blue to use that? I like the idea of the multi-color border, but the question is, would it detract too much from the quilt center. Can you try a mock-up of the colorful binding and take a photo? Photos can be so helpful.
I would use the same blue as the border - it frames the blue bird and flowers and doesn't distract from them. I think the multi-color border would pull your eye to border and not let you see the center which is focal point.
I like the blue but wondered about using the brown of the twig holding the bird.
The quilt is darling. I would bind it with the blue as my first choice. Second choice would be WOF strips of the flower colors. If is a baby quilt I would not add buttons to the flowers. I would sew or embroidery a center to the flowers for safety.
I think a multi-colored binding to match the multi-color in the other border stripes would be gorgeous. Just be sure to have the seams on the bias and pressed open as others have said. No need to cut strips on the bias. It will be a lot of work, but I think you would be rewarded by the results.
I really like the idea of making the multi color binding to use. It will be different and really look great. Just make sure and join each piece on the bias then it will not be bulky.
Darling little quilt. Whichever way you decide to go will work great. I like the blue, but you already have so much going on, I think the solid color border would be great
I also like the blue
What a darling quilt. Either way will make it just perfect.
Would keep it in a single colour ie blue or red.
Another vote for red.
l love the idea of a multi-coloured binding
