Need Advice with how much would you charge
I just had a friend that asked me if I could make a quilt out of this. Her Grandma had given her a quilt when she was a little girl and the quilt wore out but each block is cross stitched so she cut the blocks out of the quilt. she would like it put back into a quilt for her DD which is preschool right now. I haven't seen them yet but it sounds like it would be easy to do just sashing them with a border. What I need to know is how much would you charge to do something like this?

How much to charge is always a challenge. I usually charge 3 x's the cost of the fabric I put into it.

From others that have posted doing projects for friends and not getting paid what time was put into their work I would give a high quote and get out of it.......Pre-pay with a signed agreement.......

It's always more difficult when a friend asks someone to do something.
I would want to see the project before agreeing to it. What one person thinks is "just a little job" may be a major deal with a lot more involved than one expected when one agreed to to do the job. If the rest of the quilt is worn out, it seems reasonable to me to expect that the blocks would also be worn. |
I agree with bearisgray...you should see it before you give any kind of quote. The cross stitch could be on aida or other loose weave cloth, they could have been cut from the original quilt with not enough room for a decent seam, there could be lots of reasons for it not to be an easy job. You won't know until you see it.

f the aida cloth so I think that should be backed with a fusible. They just wouldn't be all the same size blocks on the aida cloth because some of the aida cloth is raveling but with the framing I could make the blocks the same size. I need all the opinions I can get on this. This is a childhood friend of my daughter. Help what should I do? |
