hi--just joined the quilting board recently.
i have bought a next generation quilt frame (and am so excited about starting to use it--but won't get to because i'll be away for almost a month).
i have a juki and had planned to buy a cruise control for it, but have been told by a retailer (who sells both brands) that the grace sure stitch stitch regulator is a better stitch regulator than the cruise control. to complicate matters,it seems like there are other manufacturers out there as well!
does anyone have an opinion about grace sure stitch versus cruise control?
fortunately, i'll have some time to think about this since i won't get back to use the frame for a while.

Not sure if this applies here or not, but some people have confused the Cruise Control (or Speed Control) with a stitch regulator. Actually, the name describes what the function is. A Cruise Control does not regulate the stitches and I don't think the Stitch regulator controls the speed. In this case maybe it does. It is helpful to understand exactly what a person is asking.

I have a Bailey with their Cruise Control which I think is very good. I have not had the urge to have a stitch regulator although I have had people ask if the Cruise Control does that. In my case, it does not. You need to learn how to move the machine in time with the rythem of the needle and the stitching. I am not bothered by stitches that vary in length. I am not a perfectionist, so I don't worry about that.

:D thanks --not much of a perfectionist inre my quilting either.( i tend to focus more on the "art" of my work rather than perfect technique--not sloppy, just not perfect!)
some of the people i've talked to seem to indicate that the quilter's cruise control regulates stitch length. for regular piecing, i do use a speed control (my juki can go way faster than i can). guess i'm going to have to go check out the quilter's cruise control at a friend's house to see it in action.
