What cute fabric! You could alternate a square of this fabric with a four patch of two colors. I did something like that once. Let me see if I can find a picture. Okay, the only picture I have also is almost completely covered by my large cat, but maybe it could spark an idea for you.

beautiful fabric, and I agree with Dina, it will show off the fabs perfectly. I do the 4 patch for babies, not to fussy and shows of the fabric fantastically.

I like warm wishes,it's cute and easy too.

I love it. I'd really be tempted to fussy cut the Dumbo's & put them into a modified chevron to make it like a row of elephants flying up & down. You could fussy cut the word "Dumbo", too. So many choices, so little time!
I agree that primary colors would be the cutest. You could also use the 4-5 shades of blue & blue-grey for a more sophisticated colorway. |
It'll be great in primary colors. After that, my brain said, "Which ones?" and answered back, "Darned if i know."

I would look for patterns that have a larger square blocks so you won't lose too much of this cute fabric.

I made a baby quilt with some Winnie the Pooh fabric I didn't want to cut too small. I alternated 8" blocks with 8" blocks of the colors in the fabric. It looked old fashioned.

How about a rail fence with either 6 or 8 inch block of your main fabric (really cute btw) with rails of primary colors beside it.

Here is the link for a free pattern for a baby quilt that has a center square of 16" to show off your cute fabric.

All of these ideas and pictures are great! I also needed a quick baby quilt idea and now I have several!

I would try and find fabric similar to the print in the D U M B O
They seem to be prints that aren't too hard to find. Pattern ideas have been mentioned, all see to be good ones. |
When my daughter was 2 (she is 30 now) DUMBO was her favorite film. Every day she had to watch it! And she did watch it. When I saw that fabric I had to buy it - she is getting 2 pillow cases made with it.
If I were to use it for a quilt, I would use it as the center and then add complimenting borders, then let the quilting do the rest. (Can you tell I really move this fabric?) |
Maryquilts.com has "My Favorite Donation quilt" free pattern, a quick Strippie pattern, Has a 6 and 1/2 inch wide strip that calls for a focus fabric that would work well with a larger patterned fabric. The other strips are 3" and 1 and 1/2.
I have used this pattern a couple times, always comes out pretty cute. And it's quick! (I like that part too!) |
One of my quilt guild friends made cute ones buy cutting squares (hers looked about 8") of the theme fabric, then surrounding them with blocks of the same size made with 3 strips sewn together like a rail fence design. By orienting the colors in these strips touching the theme fabric blocks so the same color touches the center square on all sides, the squares look framed. Really cute and simple.
