Need a bigger block

I need this block http://www.quilterscache.com/P/PussI...rnerBlock.html to be 12 1/2" . Could someone please help?

Ooooh, pretty block, but you are asking for odd fractions.

With a 9" block, each section of the 9-patch is 3". which makes each piece 1" wide.
With a 12" block, each section of the 9-patch is 4". which does not compute well and comes to 1-3/8" or 1-5/16".

I would suggest keeping each strip 1" and adding another strip on all 4 sides, making each section 4 strips at 1" for a total of 4". You could play with the color combinations and come up with something really nice. Does that make sense?

Hope that helps.

AudreyB is correct ... if you are keeping it in the same proportions, then the measurements would be awkward!

Adding the fourth outside strips would only bring the finished measurement to 11".
You could change the centre square measurement to make up the difference.

Another way would be to change the one inch strips to 1-1/2".
That would result in a 12" finished block.

................ What needs to be clarified is whether you are meaning 12-1/2" finished or unfinished?
AudreyB and myself are both referencing re 12" finished, meaning 12-1/2" unfinished.
If you are talking finished, then a different story ..................

Could you print it out and paper piece it? Each section would be printed to 4", but the corner pieces may need to be done in smaller "groups". It might be a bit of a pain, but it would avoid weird measurements.

I would just draw it out on graph paper.

I played with this and came up with a couple of similar ones, though not exactly the same.

The first one has blocks cut 1 3/4" - finishing at 1 1/4". The center units will finish at 4 1/2". It doesn't look too bad.
The second one the pieces are cut 2", and finish at 1 1/2". The centers will finish at 3 x 3 and 1 1/2 x 3".

Hope it helps

The bottom one loses the balance that the top one has and doesn't look right - just my own opinion...

Maybe put a frame around the block to add the extra 2 inches on each side???

Thank-you very much for all your help. I'm working on the block today looking great so far I will try to post a pic sometime this week.

You can go to the 'size' page and pick the size you want; 12" was listed.
