For our first exchange, we gave out individual f8s & said make any block.
For our 2nd, we chose a theme w or w/o fabric.
For our 3rd, everyone got the same print to use.
Looking for 4th plan. We have up to 12 participants.

I love star blocks-----how about any star with a specified 4 or 5 blues.

Our group once did a paper pieced block exchange. The blocks were all to be the same finished size, and each person chose what pattern they wanted to make for the group. The difference was each participant dictated the colors they wanted for the blocks they were to receive, so that their finished "quilt" would have different pp'ed blocks all made in the same colors. So that meant for the exchange each participant made the same pp'ed block (of her choice) in many different color combinations. The resultant quilts were all different, and very beautiful! You could tell the members you wanted your quilt all in pastels, brights, or specific color combinations, etc. They were small blocks--I think 4-5" square, finished, and one member finished her quilt by making the pp'ed blocks the center of a square-in-a-square, thus enlarging each one, and ensuring that each block was then the exact same size. She used a diagonal layout, placing each block on point, and her quilt was gorgeous. She's a very smart lady!
