Need border advice
1 Attachment(s)
This picture shows the fabric strip set i already have for the border. However I want it to be larger than the 54"x68" that it will be with only this border.
I'm currently considering a pieced border of some sort between the sashing and the dark row. Just not sure what would look good and continue the calm mood of the quilt. What would you suggest? Thanks in advance. |
The outside fabric (wider one) is lighter than the picture shows. It is just on the dark side of medium.

Do have enough of each of these to do a wider outer border.
Which do you think works best? Or would a pieced border in between the sashing and the dark look best? |
The second one to me, definitely looks the best; and I think if you pick a dark binding then it would really look nice.
|
I think either of them would be fine. I agree about a dark binding.
|
I think to keep the calm feel stay in the same colours. I like the second one best.
|
The second one!

I like the second one also and I would use the dark fabric in the inside border for the binding.
|
Yup, I'd agree with the others, and do the 2nd one.

the second one

I would go with something simpler and use one of the darker fabrics for the border. You have a busy beautifully pieced quilt and the border should just frame the quilt.
|
I love your quilt! I also think the second border would look best. The first one, to me, draws your eye away from the quilt and out to the border. Show us what you come up with (0:

I have to go with the second one. I think the first is too busy.
|
The deep rich blue would be perfect to frame up this lovely top.
|
I think I'm going to put another narrow slightly lighter dark green strip, a 4" or so strip of the second fabric, then the original strip set. And use one of the dark greens for binding.
This should get it to about 64"x78". That should be big enough for two to snuggle under, shouldn't it? |
i would repeat the placement of the same colors already in the borders on 2nd one [or close] so as not to detract from center of quilt
|
I keep seeing attached images, but don't see them and clicking on them doesn't bring them up?
|
I think the pinkish one doesn't work. It seems to fight with the center. The green one looks pretty but a pieced inner border would looks smashing too.
|
I like the 2nd one the best. To me,it helps keep the mood of the quilt subdued.
Just an idea; there are several really great border on the internet that aren't greatly difficult. Will be really pretty when completed! Mariah |
The last pic with border fabric is my favorite. It matches the calm mood of the center blocks. Beautiful color choices !
