This was made from a pack of 8 fat quarters I bought at my LQS. I didn't have anything to do, so I decided to make a quilt out of it. The problem is that's it's too small for an adult-sized quilt. Right now it's 36x44. I have a bolt of plain red and a bolt of plain white, and I can always go back to the LQS for more fabric. Any suggestions on what I can do with the borders to enlarge this quilt a little more? And what do you think about Prairie Points? Too busy????

I would go thin white and then a 6' red..

I really like it! I would then bind it in red.

Good Luck.. really great work!

I agree with Dawn.

If you added two broaders, one 2" and one 3" that would add 10" to the length and width.

Or.... add three broaders. Do red, white and red again. Maybe 3", 2", 3" or 2", 1", 2".

I have no opinion or suggestion on the Prairie Points.

:-) :-) :-)

OOO I just re-read it .. yes white then red and then red and white prarie points as the border.. how CUTE!!!

mary quite contrary 12-20-2008 09:50 AM

I agree with the small white then a wide red. Love your quilt!!!!

gcathie 12-20-2008 09:53 AM

I see a thin white row and then the thicker red row with a block in the cornors...very pretty....

I too think thin red or white and the opposite colour a broader strip.

Maybe a white border. Than a four patch.Than another border of red.

I like the white then wider red border and like the idea of a block in the corner. It is a very pretty quilt. Be sure to show us the results.

How about small white, wider red with a 4 patch in the corners? And yes!!! we definitely want to see pictures.

Everyone's idea is great. I think that a thin strip of white, then red & finish it with a wider border of a similar small print that you have used in the quilt top itself. Then bind it in red.

Good Luck,
Cheryl

I think alternation red and white prarie points would be nice :D

Yes, that is what I was thinking too..

Small white or red, then use some of that rose print that is in the quilt for the wide outer border and bind in red...

lay it out on the floor and see if it speaks to you...

OK, ladies, thank you for your input! You helped a lot! What I wound up doing was a white 1-1/2" border, then a 1/2' red plaid, then a 6" border of my favorite print from the quilt, the large red floral on white. Then when I'm done quilting I'll bind it with one of the red prints from the quilt. Here's what it looks lilke (sorry the last photo is so fuzzy):

I love red and white pyramids. You could get some more of what you have for the third fabric.
