Need an easy pattern for these fabrics

I have had these fabrics in my stash for a while now, and it stares at me when I choose other fabrics! 😁
There are about 3-4 yards of each fabric and one creamy beige that is not in the picture but is of the same fabric line. Problem is......I have no idea which pattern will complement the fabrics. I want a pattern with big pieces to showcase the fabrics best....but which ...??? Any suggestions, please? ETA: The top right is not as bright pink as in the picture...it is a dusty pink as in the flower. |
I'd choose the big print for focus, the lighter one, and one dark one to make a three yard quilt. With four yards you could enlarge the quilt. Use the fourth fabric for backing. I really enjoy 3 yard quilt patterns. You can see each pattern made into a quilt on the Fabric Cafe youtube channel. My favorite are Favorite Things and Elation.

Oooo! Lovely collection and very versatile, especially with the added beige.
Couple of questions first -- What size quilt do you want? You have enough yardage for a queen, but is that what you want?? How much assistance do you need from the pattern? For example the 3-yard quilt patterns are marvelous but small, can you figure out how many extra blocks and such to make it the size you want? Can you adjust a pattern that is designed to be more scrappy to fewer fabrics? Are you able to see a completely different color way and switch it to your fabrics? (My husband can't do this at all -- if he sees a red quilt he can't visualize it done in blues.) |
This pattern is very easy and would go with your fabrics perfectly. Just use the light colored one in the middle of the stripes block. and make sure you match up the stripes blocks to for the squares. I honestly can not remember what the name of the pattern is. I am sure one of the gals here can tell you. I think I used 6 1/2 inch block of the feature fabric and the cut the stripes to 2 1/2 inches. I sewed the stripes in long strips and cut them to th6 1/2 inch size and then laid it all out in rows to sew the together right. When you are finished just add a border all around and quilt with a meaner all over stitch, and end with a binding .

Fair enough RN-Quilter. I had an enjoyable day yesterday looking at patterns for you since my own schedule will be tied up with the Bonnie Hunter Mystery starting Friday. I am always looking for quick and effective ideas to showcase large prints and/or can be made from my collections of 10" squares. I have collections where the fabrics fit a theme but don't always play nice with each other, in which case framing the diverse prints and separating them a bit often is a great option. There are many free patterns using squares and rectangles and framing that are perfect for this. Here's one of them --

Sometimes using Snowball shapes (a square where the corners are contrasting) makes a great connector block, as in the Tennessee Waltz, which combines the 54-40 or Fight Block with a snowball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH1h...eresaDownUnder You can use other Star designs as well, just match the size of your Snowball triangles to the alternating star blocks. Which is why I can't do mysteries where I have to choose my own colors. I second guess myself so much, that I can't enjoy the process. (and usually end with colors in the wrong places.😪😣🥴 I want to make a king-size quilt, and once I know what I have to do, I can adjust, enlarge or reduce the amount of blocks. I don't think I've done a mystery quilt on these boards but sometimes I forget projects!
Here is a Tennessee Waltz I did a few years ago -- I call it the "Jerry Springer Quilt" because I was making it for one of the hubby's nieces as a wedding present. I find it hard to make quilts for people I don't know, but I found the background print on sale and went/took the colors from there. There was a big family drama because it was a younger sister marrying an ex of the older sister. Older sister said no problem, it was years ago and maybe he had improved by now. Younger sister said she was trying to sabotage things. Fiance said no, actually he was trying to get back at the older sister and he never proposed -- younger sister just started making wedding plans. Wedding was cancelled about the same time as I finished the top! LOL top is finished but remains unquilted. |

The cartoon quilt is the Warm Wishes quilt pattern. it's free to download. It's one of my favorite quilt patterns. The fabric choices changes the look of the pattern.

If you haven't yet decided on a pattern, let me suggest one I found for a large throw that uses a focus fabric. Of course adding more blocks will make it bigger. Plaidalicious PDF pattern (sweettreasuresquilts.com). Pattern includes three sizes and looks very easy to do. I bought it this morning and will add it to my project line.
