I'm always in the same situation in the spring and summer. I love to quilt, but I love to work in the yard, too. At first I felt bad about it, but not so much anymore. Both are important hobbies of mine, but the outside things have a very short season, so I just do what I can.

Unless you have a deadline for customers or gift dates, go enjoy the spring weather. having many interests keeps us curious and creative. Go be inspired!:D

I am bringing my gardens up to par and sewing for charity too. I have to work outside in the early morning hours while it is cool and come in when it gets too warm. That way I get to two things I love in the same day.

When I am in a fix for ideas I visit the quiltand fabric stores or go on line to pursue the big four pattern companies sites. That usually does it for me.

I really should be doing more spring cleaning, but, I got a lot of it done at the end of winter because we had to empty rooms for new carpeting and lino to be installed.

My problem is I have lots of quilts I want to do but can't start them until I finish the quilts I have to do.

I quilt almost every day but now that I am going to be moving, I am going NUTS by NOT having ANY time for quilting. If you get too many UFOs as sometimes ALL of us do, what works for me is this: You have to finish one UFO before starting ANY new quilt. That motivates me. Get the binding done in the evening when watching TV. It seems that EVERYTHING is reruns now a days !! Good Luck !!

Since retiring I just do what I want when I want - no deadlines, no rules. It took me 6 months to get in the mood to sew after retiring. When I worked I guess my sewing was to escape - when I retired I didn't need to escape. When I got in the mood to sew I have gone full bore and it has been wonderful, but there may be several days or a week that I've got too many other things going on and that is ok. Don't make your hobby into work - do it when you enjoy it.

My UFOs out number my dust bunnies. sigh!

sometimes it's hard to get motivated. But sometimes it just all works out and we have to sew and get that UFO or a new project done. Good luck.
