My stepdaughter requested a sailboat quilt for my grandson. I saw a 9 patch pattern on line so I took that idea and got my graph paper and colored pencils and I now have a sketch of what it will look like. I figured out the amount of fabric I need -- I hope I calculated correctly! Now I just have to cut it and piece it. Considering this will only be my second quilt, I think I have overwhelmed myself.

Take your time on the first block and by the last block you'll be a pro. You'll do fine. I can't wait to see it.

Before I cut my fabric I always have in my mind that it is only fabric that has cost $5.00 or what ever I paid for it , not fabric that cost $1000.00 a yard..lol
Love the dog in your avatar

You've already STARTED the quilt and you're WORKING on it already.

Keep doing it like you are - step by step -
Make a trial block or two
If the overall quilt size is smaller than you planned, add a border or two!

Good luck

Just like eating an elephant -- one bite at a time.
