Thanks for the help. This book uses too many 7/8"s and I may have to experiment before I decide to jump on this pattern.

I agree. When you are dealing with blocks on point (set at 45 degrees) you often have to deal with these strict measurements.

Why don't you take a piece of painter's tape and align it by the cutting line? That way you don't have to "find" the 7/8 mark every time?
