as i am rather new here i was wondering how wide a border i should add to this quilt and what color...was thinking black....help
|
How pretty!
I would add a black border top and bottom to frame. Then I would make a piano key boarder from all the fabrics in the quilt. As for the width - at least as wide as an individual shirt-top across. |
I like what Martina said!

I love this! I am going to have to ask for the pattern! I have been saving hubby's tropical shirts for just such a quilt!
I like the black a lot. You could do a thin black border then a 1" strip of all the fabrics you used, then wider black again. |
Great top. I have never seen anything like it!

black is fine, but first do another thinner border (perhaps 1-2 inches) with a bright, popping color like red or purple. I think it would be fun to do a binding that is checkerboard, or stripes...
Nice quilt by the way - very cool, man! |
thank everybody for all your help...have to see what colors i have in stash for inner border...
|
That is such a cute quilt. How big is it and where did you find that pattern. I love it.
|
Gosh, that's cute! I'm another one who thinks black for border.
|
it's a paper pierced pattern i got at a yard sale...glad you like it

What a wonderful way to showcase novelty fabrics! It's so cute; I'd go with the idea for a bright solidish inner border then black in the width of the shirts then maybe a pieced border in all the fabrics if you want it to be bigger, otherwise you could do a strippy binding in all the fabrics. :D

Just wanted to say - really cute quilt!!! :D
|
I'm thinking black for a border also. And I love it -- it is so cute!!
