Need Help Cat Advent Calendar (Wm. Morris)
Here I go again; have to direct this one to the "brain trust" ...
I purchased an adorable fabric panel called "Christmas Cats Advent Calendar" P380 William Morris Christmas designed by Fabric Freedom in London, England. No directions, didn't see a "sample" made up. Now that I have it here in front of me I'm confused (no headline bulletin there). In my mind an Advent calendar is something you "add" to on a daily basis starting on or about December 1st. I envisioned that I'd be using velcro (hook 'n loop) to "attach" each day's cat block. This panel looks to me that it was designed to get assembled/used in some other way. Anyone out there with experience with this panel who could shed some light on where/how to start and to tell me what I'll end up with? Many Thanks, Cathy |
No, idea, but I love anything with cats. Hope you can find a picture to post!

Can we get a pic of what you have? Is it the same as this? Found this on amazon.

I am not sure why they just add the dates to these, and randomly too...
Maybe someone else here can shed some light onto this :D:D:D |
An advent calendar is used from Dec.1st to 25th. You make it ahead of time and put a small piece of candy or a coin in the pocket. Everyday, whomever you made it for, takes the candy to eat or the coin to put in a piggy bank. It helps children count the days until Christmas morning.

Ok... so the cat blocks get sewn on as pockets, to the piece with the numbers  gotcha :D
Still curious as to why they randomly mix up the dates :D:D:D |

So now you make up a pocket with each cat pic, I would sew a backing to each little pic, leaving an opening to turn, and then sew both sides and bottom of each pic to the backing, keeping top open to put a little something in. Hope this helps. |

Many thanks to all. This group is fantastic! Our grandson is just 13 months old; so I'm thinking I have a whole year and a little bit to actually put this together. |

In some European countries, the Christmas gifts are exchanged on the 24th (not the 25th), that is why the countdown ends early.
Yes, the small treats are put into the pockets before the countdown begins, and on each day of advent you search for the relevant number and enjoy the gift inside. I see the William Morris fabric is still available here. https://www.quilterstudio.com/Fabrics160.htm. There are several tutorials on the net how to sew a pocket calendar, I hope this helps. https://www.angeledenblog.com/2012/1...-tutorial.html https://www.frugalandthriving.com.au...ndar-tutorial/ https://thediydreamer.com/christmas/...-with-pockets/ |
