I vote for either red or floral depending on how they look with the backing.

Dotsie 05-24-2011 04:51 AM

Personally I think white is not practical, will show off dirt first. I like the red.

I like the flowers. You could use a 2" white sash and a 2" flower border. Edie

PS - Then everyone is happy!

jenniferlrn 05-24-2011 04:51 AM

I would think that the floral would look really stunning or even the white would make everything pop. But when I looked at it the first time I was thinking red for the boarders, but maybe that would be too much not sure. I am sure that what ever you choose will look great.. Jennifer

QuiltNama 05-24-2011 05:17 AM

Red, Red, Red Pretty quilt

dinlauren 05-24-2011 05:17 AM

Red, definitely red..........will make the blue pop

trolleystation 05-24-2011 05:26 AM

I vote for the floral...it picks up all the colors.

TexasSunshine 05-24-2011 05:32 AM

My first thought was floral, second red. Nice work.

C. 05-24-2011 05:39 AM

Hi, I make a lot of the patriotic quilts and sometimes a red and white stripe cut on the bias turns out so pretty and is just the thing to bring out those colors. You might even find a red, white and blue stripe too. It is beautiful. C.

SusanW 05-24-2011 06:07 AM

I vote red!

Nancy Ingham 05-24-2011 06:08 AM

My vote is to use one of the floral fabrics in your quilt for the border. If you don't have enough of those fabrics left...use a floral with the same complimentary colors. Your freehand stippling is very nice! Good job!!!

Tudey 05-24-2011 06:15 AM

I would bind it with red.

Pattycakes 05-24-2011 06:17 AM

I would go with the floral also. It would pull the floral out of the quilt. The blue is already dominate, red and white are bold. Yes go with the floral.

Quiltgirl26 05-24-2011 06:27 AM

Red!

judykay 05-24-2011 06:42 AM

I almost always make binding strips out of my left over fabric from that particular project. It makes a nice scrappy binding.

swizzy 05-24-2011 06:56 AM

I can see a narrow white border to match the white around the block and than finish with a wider red border

This is what I plan to do. I'll get in there in a few minutes and start it. When it's finished, I'll post pictures. Thanks everyone!

patski 05-24-2011 07:17 AM

I agree with the red, white does get dirty awfully fast around here!!

lheartsl 05-24-2011 07:19 AM

I am thinking the floral, then the red.... a double boarder...
white would get dirty too fast, and too much blue already...

RugosaB 05-24-2011 07:49 AM

When I first saw the photo, I was thinking blue, as I like the binding to just fade into the background. But when you said you were going for a patriotic look, and had the varagated stippling, I changed, and thought red would be perfect.

Kappy 05-24-2011 08:25 AM

I vote for red, but think if you pieced all the colors together and cut on the bias it would be very interesting also. ;)

CherryPie 05-24-2011 08:27 AM

Very nice. My first choice would be red with second being the floral. Please show us the finished quilt.

suzette1954 05-24-2011 08:36 AM

my first thought was red and then I went with white.

Rann 05-24-2011 08:39 AM

I vote for the floral.

Tell DH that white binding gets grubby real quick. I think the red would be best. IMHO

ajohn52 05-24-2011 08:57 AM

Definitely the floral.

linhawk 05-24-2011 08:59 AM

I would try a dark blue with a tiny red flange.

ggreenridley 05-24-2011 09:10 AM

Dark blue

grannypat7925 05-24-2011 09:18 AM

I would choose the floral.

Ziva 05-24-2011 10:22 AM

Floral would look great.

Bluehouse 05-24-2011 10:44 AM

Red is my vote

pjustice63 05-24-2011 10:51 AM

What about a red and white stripe on bias?

quilter2theend 05-24-2011 11:41 AM

What about a thin strip of the floral and then red for the binding?

wildyard 05-24-2011 12:37 PM

I think I would want to put on a border of the white about 1.5" then the floral about 2.5" and then bind in the red. But I love borders on a quilt.
At first, I thought if only a binding and no borders I'd use the floral, but now I'm thinking the red would be the thing to make the quilt pop.
So I say red for the binding. Yep, red it is.

Landers 05-24-2011 12:58 PM

Red

Neena 05-24-2011 01:02 PM

I'd go with red.

OK ladies, here it is, hot off the machine! (Give me a few minutes) I hope it looks better after it's washed.....

This had better lay flatter after washing, then I may put another row of stitches on the white.

my DH holding it up in my uncleaned living room. Everything has been put off in the house until I got this done.

*Had a brain burp* I couldn't think how to miter the corners....I attached it on the back, then I had to bring it to the front. I haven't even pressed the binding after sewing it.

luckylindy333 05-24-2011 01:20 PM

Hey, that came out very cute! Thanks for sharing. As far as the corners, it is your quilt and you can make it any way you want! I think it gave it kind of an old-fashioned look.

quilttiludrop 05-24-2011 02:53 PM

I vote for floral!

travelingquilter 05-24-2011 03:04 PM

the bright red in the quilt would be grat....or if you don't want it to stand out try the blue.
