Need help deciding on extension table or not.
 

I recently purchased a Brother PX 1500 and it came with it's own extension table which will give me a fmq area 11x23. I can buy another extension table(acrylic) 24x24. I am new to fmq and have not yet tried to do it so I'm not sure whether I should buy the new extension or will the one I currently have work for now. All input will be appreciated. Thanks.

save you $$ for now..............start small, child size or lap quilt, and you will do fine! I can quilt a King size....just finished a Queen this morning, on the exact same machine with the orgional table. Have been usuing this machine for almost 10 years....she is a real workhorse!!!!!!!

I agree, see how it works with the table you have before going to the bigger one.

Thank you for your input. I was hoping what I have would be adequate for now. I have an Arrow sewing table with an airlift that I originally had an insert made for my Janome MC 7000(old but still works great). The new Brother almost fits but I think I will use it as you suggest then decide later if I need to do something different.Thanks!

I bought one and used it awhile. at the moment it's been taken off. my quilt kept catching on the left front corner. i really need more room to lay my quilt out.

If you can modify the extension so that it fits into your table, that would give you more surface area than a bigger insert would. If that doesn't work, I would have an extension built to fit into the table. I think having the machine at the right height, which usually means that it is dropped into a table, is the most important thing.

I have a friend that just got a new machine with the extension table. She put the machine in her existing table and laid the extension table on top of the cabinet and screwed it down. It seems to work great for her.

Some really good ideas for me to think about. Really appreciate the input.

i agree with dunster. I think it is most important to have a flat surface for FMQ.
