what colors to get to go with this fabric. It's one of those I found and just had to get I want to make a quilt to send in wilth the Downy quilt. course I only got a yard so I can't use it for backing although I will try tomorrow to see if they have anymore. I was thinking just get some stripes or plaids or something with the green and maybe some browns but not too much. going to use a simple block pattern maybe a 4patch square alternating with the monkey fabric

Sounds to me, you are on the right track. I like your ideas.

polka dots?

I love monkey fabric. My next project is a Moda Goodnight Monkey lap quilt. Where did you get the fabric? I want some!

How about brown with white polka dots?

So much of the monkey fabric seemed boyish that I thought this one (I got that fabric, too, it's so cute) could be mixed with a pink something and be for a little girl.

Maybe brown with white polkadots and white with black polkadots for your four square? That might bring the monkeys out more using colors from his body. I do love the monkeys... so cute.

I was also thinking yellow. Like the bananas idea, or just a pretty yellow for some zing.

I just want you to know that I loved this fabric so much that I went and got three yards of the green and two of the pink today! Now to find fabric that matches so I can make something out of it!

I am waiting on my QFK kit it should be here soon and I hope to bust some of my stash making quilts to send in!

dljennings 03-18-2010 03:24 PM

i'd use a mottled black in there somewhere...pick up the black in monkey's eyes & mouths...

my daughter would love this ....

If you can find a brown to coordinate that has a white pin dot in it, that might look nice.

I love your fabric! :D I made a pair of pj's, out of this same fabric, for our grandson at Christmas. He loves those monkeys. Have you thought about a D9P block with a pale pink, yellow & maybe a med/dark tan? I see many combinations, that would look really nice together. Please share again, when you have made your decision's. We "LOVE" those pictures!!
:D :D :D :D
