Can some one tell me how to add a second border 10" wide with the log cabin pattern like this pic? I got the pattern all done except for the last border and I need it 10" wide. When I add it it keeps adding the R&L borders too and it won't let me get the logcabins in there.

Thanks!

If you create a border with corner blocks, you can place a block in the corner blocks. Next, you need to use your block setting tool and rotate your log cabins as needed. I hope that helps.
( I have EQ6, so it might work differently. It has been awhile since I used EQ5.)

Thanks, I did that but I need the last row to be added. It has ten 10" blocks. Any idea how to do that?

Is there an option in the drop down for just vertical borders?

This is what I am doing. I don't want the R & L borders at all, but don't know how to get rid of them.

Hey, In EQ5,
If you haven't already, go to the "worktable" option (at the top). Check "work on quilt"
then, at the bottom should be some tabs that say, "layout", "borders", "Layer1", etc.
Check the "borders" tab. A box will appear where you can put the number, style and size for the borders.
Put "0.00" in the left and right boxes, and "10.0" in the top and bottom boxes.
You should see them format as you type.
Good luck.

It won't let me :(

How far did you get?

sewnsewer2 01-06-2010 09:02 PM

I got as far as the above pic. When I try to just add the 2nd border on top and bottom, it adds the sides too. :( then I can't delete them. I tried everything in the drop down box.

Have you saved the quilt already? That may be why it won't let you change any of the previously saved layout...

You might try starting over with the instructions you were given :D:D:D

sewnsewer2 01-06-2010 09:22 PM

Yes, I tried that too amma, no luck there either.

amma 01-06-2010 09:35 PM

EQ6 has a feature, and if you click on it inadvertantly, it will save your borders for the next quilt... I wonder if EQ5 has the same?

amma 01-06-2010 09:36 PM

Is this being an issue because you are using EQ to figure out your yardage? Is this the final design?

MistyMarie 01-06-2010 09:52 PM

You can delete these borders by taking off the feature that keeps all your borders in ratio. You can make the L and R borders at 0 and the top and bottom at 10 and still get this.

That's how I would do it.

sewnsewer2 01-07-2010 01:23 PM

I tried the ratio thing too but when I click on tile borders, it add the L & R and I can't get rid of them.

amma, this isn't really an isue of yardage. I just wanted to get rid of the L & R borders.

I'm doing this for a friend. She is going to make it for her bed and will be using scraps. I'm just trying to enlarge the pattern for her, she doesn't have EQ.
