Need help finding pattern or cutting instructions
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone point me toward a pattern for this type of quilt? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
|
I think it is called Pinwheel...may do some searches on here and see what comes up.
|
It looks like it is paper pieced. There are lots of pinwheel blocks on quilterscache.com. It's not the same as the one you pictured but here's one example....

I found the one like yours. Although the pattern here is not paper pieced I would make it PP. It would be easier (to me) than cutting out all those pieces and trying to get them just right.

Eleanor Burns of Quilt In A Day was doing one on her show today. actually it was a very small block done as a "quilt" on a large red barn block. she later showed quilts with just this block.
|
I remember being told years ago ... "make friends before you need them."
Maybe one of your friends has a version of EQ and could do it up for you. You wouldn't need to PP as it is an easy regular piecing pattern. ali |

http://www.quilterscache.com/P/Pinwheel3Block.html A fairly simple pattern that doesn't require paper piecing. Useful is that's your favorite, but not necessary by any means. |

Mary Fons and Mary Ann Fons just did this pattern last Saturday on my local PBS station. If you can access such on your computer, you'll find a good tutorial. I didn't keep the show, so I can't tell you the title.
The black/green can be cut from a larger HST (easiest way) The lower right triangle is a right angle triangle in pink with a black strip to finish it out to the same size triangle as the black/green triangle. Mary and Mary Ann added a rectangular strip to the side of the pink triangle-------------then trimmed out the triangle, rather that trying to cut a quadrilateral just the exact size. Like eating an elephant--------------one bite at a time. |
Looks like the same design as Kaleidscope Pinwheel in the original Stack-n-Whack pattern from Bethany Renolds. However it is not a kaleidscope arrangement. So guess one would call it the basic pinwheel design.
|
Missouri quilt company has a YouTube video I just watched it
|
I know it as kaleidescope, also stack and whack and saw blade. All of those names also refer to other patterns, unfortunately.

You cut squares into 8 pieces, as I have shown in grey and white. You can do this with stacked squares. If you do, I strongly suggest you run basting stitches or pin well before you cut. The darker grey pieces I've shown are background. for a true kaleidescope, you need to be very careful in lining up your layers.

Missouri Star Quilt Company has a tutorial on it, I think it's called stack and wack.
|
Thanks, everybody!! I love being able to rely on you for help!

This is it. I will skip the search at home. The Eleanor Burns pattern is all that you need.
