Need help- how do you use a partial block as a setting triangle?
1 Attachment(s)
I designed this quilt in EQ8 and now I am trying to figure out how to make it. I like the secondary patterns created by carrying the design into the setting triangles. But I have no idea how to make the partial blocks that are the setting triangles. Does that make sense? They are modified half blocks of the blocks used in the main section of the quilt. I can determine the size of the setting triangles, but I know I can't just make a full block and cut it in half. Thanks in advance for any help.

Doesn't EQ help you with that? You can print either a paper-piecing pattern, or templates to cut to the correct size. Then just assemble as usual.

The cutting directions should be in EQ for you. Very nice design, don’t forget to share when you’re done making it.

did you use the on point layout setting? if so, you should be able to click on that setting triangle and get the cutting directions that way,.

Love the design!! If you click on the "Print and Export" tab then choose your setting triangle (partial block) and lastly choose Rotary Cutting Chart" , what you get is the cutting chart for the partial block. Once sewn it should be fine .

Thanks so much, especially eparys! I was able to follow your directions and print out the two triangular blocks. The two very small triangles in the points will be a bit difficult, and with rounding I don't think it will be super precise, but I will give it a try and post a picture. Glad I decided to make this a wall hanging and not a full quilt!

Just slightly oversize the two small triangles you are worried about and trim them to fit after they're sewn on.
