https://www.creeksidequiltingiowa.co...-x66853068.htm Just can't fathom how much work that beauty was to make. QuiltCollector ... you have an awesome quilt. ENJOY it to the max! What a LOT of work and looks incredibly well done and immaculate. |
I love the dark green background. The quilt looks like it was done as a block QAYG .

Mr Google showed me a few photos of this exact quilt, and most just called it 'Snowflake'.
The description in this ad is interesting, as it states as supplied as a kit, and the background is dotted to show where to quilt. Vintage Snowflake quilt |
Just a word of caution, I suspect that the green is going to bleed into the white if washed. You can test in a hidden spot by getting a Q tip moist and rubbing it on the green. If any colour shows on the Q tip, perhaps use it for display purposes only. It is a beautiful quilt and I hope I am wrong.

That is gorgeous. Am I correct that none of the snowflakes are the same? Just like real snowflakes! Is the quilting done by hand? So much and that "border"! Since it was an estate sale, I'm really curious what you paid for such a work of time and talent. I'm so glad someone got it who appreciates the work on it. Well done!!
It seems to me that quilts don't bring as much as they did maybe 10 years ago. I suppose because there are more who are "quilting" now. But hand quilting is becoming a lost art--a thing of the past, too, so finding quilts that are quilted by hand may become more difficult, making them real treasures. |
What a fabulous quilt. I am so sorry that no one in the maker's family saw the value of the beauty that had been created. But lucky you to have seen it, acknowledged the skill of the maker and had the $$$$ to purchase the quilt to lovingly care for. Another reason for us quilters to go to estate sales or the like. We can be preservationists for the text generations who my not yet understand the skill needed to make a quilt by hand. Congratulations!!

It is a gorgeous quilt but if you live with family members like mine, quilts might as well be given away. I only have a few left myself.
So enjoy and really hope you make one also! |
It lookes like appliqued snowflakes to me. Lovely!

This quilt is gorgeous! Talk about being at the right place at the right time. I’m so happy you ‘saved’ it and I too, am curious what you paid for it, although it is okay, if you may not want to say.whatever it was to me it was worth every cent. I hope others appreciate mine when im gone. Enjoy!
ps it looks like a very large quilt too. What size is it? |
It's gorgeous. Looks like it was hand quilted, so probably needleturn appliqued, as well. A treasure, for sure!
