Janome needles are ORGAN. Your Janome machine will take Schmetz, but they recommend Organ. Superior Threads uses Organ needles exclusively. They are the best.
Match your needle size to your thread size and you should not have shredding problems. A topstitch ñeedle is usually all you need formost uses 90/14. I would encourage you to watch superior Threads education videos on needles. Very informative. |
I switched to Organ brand when i had my Janome MC 8900.
I could use other brands for regular sewing with no issues. I had serious problems when trying to freemotion, though, until i switched to Organ. fortunately Organ needles are a lot less expensive. :) some machines are persnickity. others, not so much. all the advice given above is valid. i hope you find the right solution for your machine. ;) |
I have a Janome HD3000, a Janome 2222, a Juki 2010, and a Juki serger: I use Schmetz in all of my machines, I buy them bulk on Amazon, the universals and the quilting ones

JanieW ... I have the Janome 1600P and it has a hook bobbin case, and it doesn't take the blue dot bobbin. My Janome Mc6500 does take the blue dot bobbin. I have been advised by others on The Quilting Board that for the 1600P to use a size 16 needle for free motion quilting. I thought they were only for heavy fabrics such as upholstery and blue jeans. But I will give it a try this afternoon.

I've been a Janome quilter for years and can pretty much use any brand of needle and actually Coats & Clark seem to be my favorite. Not the 2 for a dollar ones buy there regular line.
