PS Stitcher 07-11-2011 09:40 PM

Dear Friends,

I am contemplating opening a sewing store (brick & mortar + online) selling Bernina products, some fabric, embroidery supplies, etc. (My Bernina dealer is going out of business)

At any rate, there are a lot of things in the process of opening a business that you need to have a name for and I am having a hard time picking one.

Could you all give me your advice? I am thinking about "The Sassy Stitcher's Shoppe" or " The Sassy Sewer's Corner" but I am not sure.

Can you give me your thoughts or other suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

I can see "The Sassy Stitcher's Shop". You can then use 3 intertwined "Ss" for a logo!!

Sew Sassy

What kind of feel do you want to give to your place? What sort of atmosphere? Cozy doesn't exactly seem to fit in, with Sassy in the name. I could be way off here. I'm just trying to get a picture of the image in your mind of your place, so we can help you come up with names.

Sassy sewers the first one gets kinds hard to say ! Then again if u do like suggested and make the logo with the 3 intwined s's then I'm sure ur customers will just call u sassy's! I like that!!!

Considering the double meaning I'd avoid "sewers". Already the gentitiv "s" makes me think in the wrong direction.

I like "Sew Sassy"!

I am not really going for a cozy atmosphere. I want it to be fun, upbeat. I want to help people to try new things.

I like Sew Sassy, and the more I think on it the more I like it. It's simple, clever, and immediately obvious to passers-by what kind of store it is. Shop names that veer towards being cutesy are a little off-putting to me.

Good luck in your start-up! My dad opened his own store several years ago. It was a rough few years there for a while, but he stuck it through and he's got a really good business going now. You can do it! :)

I like: "The Sassy Stitch"

sahm4605 07-12-2011 05:05 AM

Sew sassy and any of the others sounds like it would be expensive shop and more of a boutique. but that is just me. I like it but it might turn a few people off. but that is just my over cautious thinking.

Sew Sassy sounds like a winner. I like it. Too bad, I'm not closer. I've got a Bernina and don't have a dealer anywhere near by. Good luck!

Completely off the sassy but how about "Not Your Grandma's Quilt Shop" Let's you know it's a quilt shop and upbeat.

craftybear 07-12-2011 02:15 PM

Hope you think of a name soon for your business

tdgiffin 07-12-2011 02:36 PM

When I talk to folks anout quilting who have memories of cardboard templates cut with dull scissors and know nothing about rotary cutters, mats and acrylic rulers I always say "It's not your grandma's quilt and we don't use grandma's tools anymore."
