Need help with new Excellence 740
 

I am having a problem with free motion quilting with my Excellence 740. I put the free motion quilting foot on the machine with the straight stitch plate as directed in the manual. When I put the needle down it wants to hit the foot and breaks. Has anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Hi and welcome from Michigan.
Take the foot off and turn the wheel by hand to make sure the needle goes thru the single hole plate OK. If this works OK, then are you sure you are using the correct foot? If the needle doesn't go thru the single hole plate, then you might not have the straight stitch selected.
