Need help with partial seams.
1 Attachment(s)
I am having problems figuring out how to put a block together. It is like a 4 patch with 3 of the corners joined together and I need to add in the 4th corner. I visited my LQS this morning and she told me to do it this way but now I can't figure out those last 2 seams that meet in the corner. Maybe this isn't even called a partial seam. I watched the only video I could find on YouTube but it wasn't any help. I would appreciate any help I can get!

All 4 parts of the block looked like the one that is left to put in. There is an extra little square that will be in the very center of the block that had to be added in separately. These blocks are a bear and I need to have 12 of them for an exchange.

I've never seen one assembled like that before. What I would do is to rip out an inch or so (where the white meets the green in the center) of the block on the bottom left, then piece the bottom right to the bottom left, then stitch that to the row above.

I will give that a try. Thanks.

Here you go - go down a bit and you'll see how each block is added to create the larger block:

You first do them in rows then put the rows together matching seams. Using what you have above you'd have two rows and then join them

MTS, you are clever! That is the pattern I used but I don't understand the directions.
Gale, that tutorial is just what I need! Thanks! I will give it a try. Judy, it's not that simple because of that extra piece in the center. I wish it was! |
pam, looks like the hardest part is done. i agree with katie, just rip out a little more than 1/4 in, or enough for you to
get your fingers and your sewing machine needle in it, then sew them together. i do that lots. going to be a nice looking quilt when you get it done. |
I got the first 4 blocks done. It wasn't easy! A lot of ripping involved. Hopefully they will get easier as I go along.
sewNso, I will only have one of these blocks in my quilt. There are 12 of us in the exchange so we will each have 12 different blocks. Thanks for the help everyone! |
