Katier825, Your quilt is simply beautiful. I love the colors you used. I'm sure your DIL loved it, 'cause I know I do.

Thank you! Did you see Eddie's latest quilt? It's beautiful! You could do something like that and add more or different greens. Here's his post: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-35462-1.htm

http://www.quilt.com/blocks/AlphaBlockList.html You can see examples of both the Storm at Sea and Jacobs Ladder as well as others. Good luck.

Tried to access that link and got file not found.

That address was typed while the site was open on my pc. How about trying leaving alpha block list off? I did a search for "Quilt patterns: Storm at Sea, Jacobs Ladder" That is how I found the site.

The 9 patch uses charm squares and the others use 2 1/2" strips (or jelly rolls/bali pops). I guess a lot depends upon your future DIL and your son's taste...are they more contemporary or traditional? what's their "design style"?

You are right, the batiks should look great. I've pretty much narrowed the pattern choice down to a split rail or the Spring Garden Path at E-Patterns, both are essentially the same. However, I still linger over the bargello pictures. My future DIL's taste probably falls somewhere between traditional and contemporary, and closer to contemporary. My son really doesn't care as long as he doesn't have to shop! :-D

Try to combine the two and see what you get.
