need help with pattern

I am not sure what to do. I am at a small problem. I don't know what is the problem if it is the colors or the fact that I have a ton of boarders. But in the purple I was thinking of doing diamonds in the blue fabric that i have in the main part of the quilt. the block at the top corner has more pieces to it. where that block in the top corner is is going to be the drop down on the sides and bottom of the bed. and the three closet strips are going to be on the top of the bed. what do you guys think? sorry that they are not true to the color and a little fuzzy. took them with my phone.

Your quilt is georgous! I am sure how ever you decide to quilt it will be wonderful. Be sure and post pics when you get done.
I like what you are talking about, but if you are struggling with it, just swirly up and then swirly down...

You have done an excellent job so far and I think that your plan for the rest will work very nicely. Can't wait to see it finished.
Can't be of any help with your question, but that is one beautiful quilt. You have done a great job. Is it paper-pieced?
It is truly beautiful, but I am not sure what your question is?
That is a beautiful quilt. I also am not sure what your quesiton is.
Love it- Are you asking what we think - I think it is awesome :) I would have all the points facing up to the top of the bed which is what it sounds like you have planned - the fairies are an awesome addition
I think the borders are bringing down the quilt. There are too many and they're... flat. They're not interesting like the rest of the quilt. I think I would do one narrowish solid border and then a pieced border of some type and then look at it again. The fairy block you have on the border now would look better if it's on the lower right hand side so the points point outward and the fairy is facing the center.
Not quite sure what your asking but if it's will all those borders (9 total) look right I think it might be too many. I wouldn't do more than three total.
Your quilt is going to beautiful no matter what you decide.
eunice MERRY CHRISTMAS |
You have done such a great job so far so anything you decide will be great. Beautiful quilt.
Wow! It truly will be gorgeous whatever you do. You do a beautiful job. I would just go with my instincts and if that can't be done no one else will know the difference.
For those who didn't understand my dilemma. It's that I am not sure what is wrong. This the the block that will be in the corners and maybe in the center of each side. Then in the purple strip I plan on having diamonds in the blue fabric. That will go between each of the fairy blocks to maybe help break up the boarders. This will all be on the sides and top and bottom of the quilt and be the hang over. The thin blue thin green and the dark purple next to the top will be on the top of the bed. Sorta like framing it out there. I will have to add the the pic of the fairy block in a min from my computer. Posting from phone.

Absolutly beautiful, is it paper pieced, can't wait to see it finished.

here is the corner block more complete.
and yes it is paper pieced. well most of the blocks are. thanks.
Beautiful job so far....let us see it when you're done!
The quilting will add to it so unless you think the wide purple side strip is a bit dominant and needs to be broken up a bit with the same lighter fabric from the top, I think it will make a nice quilt.
I don't have any advise, but I wanted to say your quilt is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the completed quilt.

I would just use the green and dark purple as they are the main color around the center star. I would use a 2 1/2 and 4 inch border. Your quilt is beautiful. Good luck on whatever you decide to do
Without taking nearly as much time to think about it as I'm sure you have...I'm seeing that dominate green and dark purple border around the middle of the quilt...I think it would be good to echo that around the outside of that center pieced part (which would be the borders that will be on top of the bed). Use the green closest to the quilt and the dk. purple on the outside. Then, between your corner blocks, come up with a pleasing layout of a couple of borders, maybe even a little piecing included in them, and then finish again with that dk. purple either as a border going all around the quilt including around those corner blocks or as the binding. I think any of the piecing in the border needs to be elongated shapes kind of like the long triangles/diamonds in the main part of the quilt. (Seminole patchwork and piano-key borders came to mind, but then I thought, that's way too square for all those long triangular pieces.) If this doesn't make sense, send me a private message.
Just my ideas, hope it helps get the creative juices going again. Your quilt is absolutely stunning. I love the colors and the detailed piecing. I've been quilting for years, but haven't attempted that style yet. I'm sure you'll come up with a beautiful finish. Please show us pictures of the finished product. |
Beautiful quilt. Please post a pic when finished, so we know how you did it. Thanks.
Beautiful job, love the colors. Try moving your border colors around, start with your dark purple as your first border, might make it pop more.
Beautiful! What is the pattern?
I don't see the problem that you might be seeing - I love what you've done so far and I love what you're planning to do - move forward with your idea and please be sure to post a photo of the finished quilt. I understand your quandry, though, and very well = sometimes I can't always hear clearly where my quilt wants me to go with it.
Your quilt is so beautiful. Please show us some pics when you have competed it. Good luck.
I just love what you are doing with your quilt -
Absolutely gorgeous quilt! I so love your color choices, all of my favorites.
Actually in this case, I think the fairies need to face the same as the other ones. I think the plain stripes are too plain too.
But it doesn't look like you need near as many as you have laid out. Could you go with (From right to left as pictured) lavender, green, white then the dark purple? Maybe stripe so far then add a medallion in the center of the stripe using the green and pink/peach and light blue or something? Maybe even do a white border next - as wide as the fairy corners (that will leave a nice space for nice quilting designs. Then come back with some more styled like the middle. I'm at the same spot on one of mine. I have black, white and bright going on in this one. The large center is done but I have the corners made up already. I've finally decided to just add a wide white strip there where special quilting can be done and add my corners there, then I'll come back with the black, white and brights again before calling it done. Hope that helps. |
Your quilt is awesome. I think it will look beautiful with the pattern placement on the top of the bed and the different color borders dropping down over the edge. I hope you post pictures of the finished quilt as I would love to see it.
love it...can't wait to see it finished...
your work and the batics are so pretty, and you are right, too much border.
what's the name of your pattern? that might give you an idea for pieced border patterns or how about this --- put a narrow border of dark purple and green around this finished section. then turn the whole thing on point. make large triangles of the small corner square blocks (or another section of the pattern or a relative pattern) to square off. you can then add a border(s) and the small corner blocks. please, post pics when you finish. |
That is going to be a gorgeous quilt. Who is the lucky recipient?
Absolutly stunning! I am sure you will find a perfect finish for it. And since you are so close I would even drive to visit and pick it up. You won't even have to pay shipping. ;) I guess I will have to try to do one of my own some day.
