Need help with a pattern

1 Attachment(s)
Finally got some info from my daughter on what quilt she would like. If I don't start soon I will never finish by Christmas. I have 2 daughters. So she sends me this picture and asks if I can make it. Any suggestions of how or where to find a pattern???

I don't see your pattern, but here is a simple version. http://www.quiltingassistant.com/valentineheart.html

It looks like the hearts are made from circles cut in half attached to a multi-cut disappearing 4 patch and appliquéd to a background square, alternating with solid background squares, all set on point.
The quilting on your picture is awesome too.

That is really beautiful - the quilting really makes it!

If you are familiar with piecing and applique, it's a pretty easy pattern to figure out using graph paper. If you make the pieced four-square center 1"-square finished pieces, then the next row consists of 1"x2" finished rectangles alternating with 2" squares. The outer row is similar.

For the two arc pieces, you can either hand draw or use a protractor (or cup, small saucer) to draw the curved pieces.

Judging from the sample, the original quilter felt fine with cutting down her pieced squares to fit as needed.

It looks to me as if the hearts may have been reverse-appliqued to the white block backgrounds.

The finished heart blocks were alternated with plain background squares in an on-point setting.

I've done this block, but it was woven, then appliqued.

It looks like the woven Scandinavian Baskets. If you want to do it as a pieced block, there's no reason you couldn't map out the pattern.

the rounded heart tops looks like one that Eleanor Burns does.

Did you ask her where she found the picture?

Wow, I can see why she likes that. It is beautiful and the quilting........ Perfect..

Here's the pattern: http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/book/1527

You can probably google the book to see where to buy it. Sometimes Joann's has it and you might be able to use a coupon. Also have seen this at Hobby Lobby and Hancocks (not the Paducah one).

Found this website that shows how to weave the hearts (scroll down):
http://gingerbreadsnowflakes.com/node/560

I took a closer look at the photo, and it's pretty clear from the heart fabrics that the center portion is pieced, not woven. Most likely the quilter got the idea from woven hearts.

The quilting on your picture is awesome too.

This is exactly what I thought, too.

http://www.firstpalette.com/Craft_th...artbasket.html this is for paper but I used fabric - didn't do the handle. When I compleated the backet I carefully slit the sides and then I had 2 a mirror image of it then I just machine appliqued it down. I did use a fusible web as a stablizer.
Hope that helps.

I saw this pattern at a show but didn't buy it. So keep looking it should be out there somewhere. If I find it I'll let you know.

Yes, LOL, from the pictures on Bing, the new web browser, but it was pictures only. The Disappearing 4 patch with added curves at the top seem to be the trick!! Thanks!

I am making a (second) baby quilt with a very similar pattern from August 2005 Quilter's World.

I think I have the Elenor Burns book at home. If you don't have any luck PM me. I can check when I get home. I will be out of town until Thursday May 2. I know I have a couple of her books. Not sure if I have that one.

Wow - you did a great job figuring that out! I agree that the quilting is awesome!

The first thing to come up was a simplified version, you'd have to use graapk paper and figure out how your one was pieced.

It is a beautiful quilt, especially with the two-color scheme. Good luck on your project.

Quilt in a Day has this exact pattern. Check her website.

Went there, searched "hearts", didn't see it. What should I be searching?
