need help with pattern
My cousin's daughter is graduating next month, she will continue her education as a Marine Biologist
I order some "Fun Fishy" fabric from Fabric.com tonight so now I need a quick fun pattern to make, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks Normabeth |

Warm Wishes is always my go to for a quick quilt.
|
There is a pieced pattern of Fish Bowls that might be fun to do.
|
How about a DNP (disappearing nine patch)? They seem to always work no matter what fabric is used and it is a fairly quick sew. There is also Take Five and Turning Twenty (or something like that). It just depends on how many different fabrics you are using.

Warm Wishes is the simplest quilt to make. You can make changes to the pattern. I have this quilt I am going to make and cut the Focus fabric larger making it an 8" square. You could do fuzzy cuts of fish and use them in the corners. For my quilt, I wonted to make something that looked like a propeller. I did the drawing using EQ7.

Thinking I was thru reading about this particular topic, I googled
https://www.google.com/search?site=&...52.-3MR4xrOJ5Y and found some surprisingly beautiful quilt ideas!! Take a look before making up your mind; there's so much more to Marine biology than just fish! Jan in VA |
I totally agree with you, there is more than fishes to Marine Biology, but the fabric out there just doesn't support it
|
that is adorable it gets my vote The Fish Bowl
|
I just watched YouTube...check out the Strip Scramble Quilt by Man Sewing w/Rob Appell. He uses a marine theme fabric in his quilt. Great tutorial and beautiful quilt.

Sewing with Nancy did a block, fish fabric would be the 12.5" block with stripes of two different colors and makes an 18" black and is fast and easy.

Normabeth, did you look at the link Jan posted? She's not taling about fabric printed with the images. She's talking about making them, often with batiks.
|
All the quilts on Jan's post are great. It's just up to the maker what they want to do.

I really like the idea of the fish bowl pattern, but the one at QuilterCache is only 6 inches - is there larger patterns out there? Can I just enlarge this pattern on a copier?
Thanks Normabeth |
