Need Help Please ! Fusible Web???
 

Good morning Quilting world...I need your help on finding the right fusible web I need to use on silk ties for a quilt .. will Pellon wonder under transfer web 805 work? will Pellon Hvy Duty wonder under 725 work? or will Heat Bond light work? or what do i need to get to make this project work correct for me... if anyone has ever worked on silk ties for a quilt please let me know what worked best for you...I have allready washed and taken apart...I want to thank you now for helping... I have many ties ready to start pressing and will be still looking for more ties..need about 191 ties total for the quilt..Thanks again

I think what is usually recommended for silk ties is fusible nylon tricot. JoAnn's had it in small one-yard packages a few years ago when I looked. I would advise experimenting with it first to see if you like the results. This fusible adds a fair amount of bulk to the silk. A knit fusible like this has the advantage of having a little stretch to it. If you need a lot of it, it's cheaper to purchase it online; I bought yardage from a drapery supply company (I think it was Brown & Sons).

There may be better fusibles for silk, but this is the one I saw recommended in a book about silk tie quilts.

I'm not sure what kind to use, but it will have to be able to be used with low heat and no steam. Can't use steam, water, or higher heat with silk. I have found silk very hard to keep fusible web or interfacing to adhere to it.

Thanks for the update...will check this out..I forgot about being on a low heat and making fusible web stick...guess I have been quilting with cotton to long..lol...

I always machine wash and dry my ties before useing. That to make sure none will shrink bad or run when the quilts is made. Are you making ties? or useing ties in a project. if using in a project, any medium or lite weight interfacing will do. Good luck
