Olivia 06-09-2011 06:37 AM

I have been admiring the Mexican Star quilts and have the desire to make one for myself. I have been to three quilt shops this week and no one has the pattern. Can someone direct me to an online shop or give me the designer's name. Any help is greatly appreciated. Olivia

Olivia, I'm in the process of making one now! It is really fun and not near as complicated as it looks! I found my pattern online via Google search.

Enjoy!!

Here's my progress:

you shouldn't thinking of your quilt posting as hijacking, more like inspiration ;-)

Olivia, in the link I posted for the pattern, you can enlarge the image to see the designer's name and contact info.

Thanks for all the help. I have ordered the pattern and cannot wait for it to arrive so I can get started.

I love this pattern. I've got one that doesn't have the curves in it. I'm going to try the curved one now.

The curves are very easy Marion. Assemble the top first, then do them (I did by hand) so they can "fit" the corner easier.

I really like this one, too. Do you think it adapts easily to being enlarged to a king size?

It would be a square king! Unless you did 3 whole patterns across and maybe 4 down! As it is, it measures 34 1/2" square.

Yeah, I saw that. So, if I added maybe one more row around the center star pattern, and then squared it up to make it about 80" square, it would probably work. I've not seen this pattern and am not familiar with how it's made.

BrendaK 06-09-2011 10:08 PM

:-P Kitsie I do like EasyPeezy's avatar. I saw where she had Harvest Star. But...I was talking about yours. They both look like something I want to add to my list.(just don't ask me how long it is) It's almost like I am a kid in a candy store. BrendaK.

Great pattern!

ywoodruff5 06-10-2011 05:07 AM

I did one with the folded back curves. If this is the one you are going to do.....beware it is a bear to quilt with the folds.....ask me how I know this

alageeps 06-10-2011 07:46 AM

I did not know what a Mexican Star was until Kristie showed hers. Beautiful pattern beautiful work. Have fun with it Olivia!

Gorgeous quilt Kitsie! thanks for sharing

Kitsie 06-10-2011 12:03 PM

Thanks so much for all the kudos! "pinot" is the lady that should be thanked! It was because of her pictures that I found and bought the pattern and finally did it! Top is now completed will get to quilting soon. Glad you like the colors, I really debated on the light blue, especially as it is a polyester and therefore thinner. Turned out well, though, because the fabric is double thick when folded into triangles.
