I have a quilt pattern called Gods eye it is 20". I want only a 10" can I just cut the stated pattern cuts by half.As in when it calls for a 4"x6" make it a 2"x3" and resize the entire pattern like this.Or better yet does any one know where a 10 or 12" Gods eye pattern can be found?

I don't know this pattern, but I think for squares and rectangles you have to deduct the 1/4" seam allowance, then half your measurements, then add the 1/4" back. For triangles and other shapes there would be different rules. Can you post a pic of the pattern?

This one??

I would maybe start with some graph paper, draw it out and then add 1/4" to all sides of your pieces.

Grafting it is the best way. It will then be accurate. Since there are triangles you can't just half the sizes.
However, reducing from 20" to 10" is a big jump.
I would print out the pattern from the web site and then enlarge it on a copy machine up to 10" and check to see what size the units would be. My feeling is that those units are really going to be small.

The instructions as given are for a block that is an 8x8 grid, with each unit a 2.5" FINISHED square.

So you want to resize that keeping the same 8x8 with each unit a 1.25" FINISHED square.

There are NO triangles involved.

These are the CUTTING sizes required:

Blue green - Twenty 1.75" squares

Gold - One 3" square
Gold - Four 1.75 x 3" rectangles
Gold - Eight 1.75" squares

Black - Twelve 1.75" squares
Black - Eight 1.75" x 4.25" rectangles (long)
Black - Four 1.75 x 3" rectangles

This should create a block that is 10" (plus .5" seam allowance) square.

I double checked it - I hope I don't have a typo in there.

Thank you so much .Tomarrow was going to be a long day.One house to clean, then a couple of perms in my shop, then supper and a 1 and 1/2 mile walk with my youngest daughter, then I was going to sit down with my graph paper and fabric .This will make things a lot smoother. Thank you all for such quick answers.

Yes this is the pattern. My oldest daughter is in college and this will be part of her senior project. She can use all the info everyone sent in.She is going to be a middle school MATH teacher.(boy will she laugh, when I tell her there is a formula for what she is doing!)They are amazed at how much math is involved in quilting anyway. Thank you
