I've laid out most of my 'coffee filter' quilt blocks. They are pretty wild - but I've appliqued them onto black. Now I wonder -- should the sashing and border fabric be wild and colorful or more subdued.

Maybe sash in one of the common colors? A pretty deep blue maybe?

I definitely vote on bright color Those are really cute!

If you don't use a sashing, they'll look like they're floating in space. Just a thought

Take a pic with some of your choices next to the blocks. I'd definitely be colorful. glenda

I would sash with all different colors to tie the two together, then you could make binding using several different colors. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Hmmm... looks pretty good on your tan carpet...

Beautiful blocks, love the idea of using coffee filters.

Or one of the bright pinks

sisLH 08-10-2011 05:05 PM

When I look at it from the distance, I see the pinks and the blues. maybe a very narrow bright pink border followed by a blue. Sashing? hmmm, undecided what color -sorry.

My thoughts exactly. At first glance, I thought it was the very fabric you were considering.

I would use a bright color.

Bright color. Pink and blue sounded great.

I am no help on decision making, but what a beautiful group of blocks!!!

That is going to make a very pretty quilt whatever you decide to do. When I first looked, the bright pink jumped out. That would make very pretty sashing.

Bright colors with a scrappy binding from the colors in the blocks. Pink sashing, with little blue border then larger dark green border. Or switch them around. Have fun with it.

The coffee filter block scrappy quilt is finished. It is probably one of the most colorful ones I've done. But also the one with the poorest workmanship. It will definitely be one to carry in the car and use for picnicking on or whatever.

Thank you all for all your suggestions. In the end, I just went by what I had on hand.

Here is the finished product.
