HI,
I AM NEW TO THIS MESSAGE BOARD. I HAVE BEEN QUILTING ABOUT A YEAR NOW. MADE 9 QUILTS LAST YEAR, AND GAVE THEM ALL WAY, (EXCEPT FOR 1, MINE), FOR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS. I SAVED MOST OF MY GRANDMOTHER'S DRESSES AND USED THEM AS THE QUILT BLOCKS, BUT NOW I AM STUCK WITH A PROBLEM. I RECENTLY ACQUIRED MY DAUGHTER IN LAW'S, GRANDFATHER'S SHIRTS, ( HE JUST RECENTLY PASS ON). I WANT TO MAKE HER A QUILT USING HIS SHIRTS, BUT IN SOME KIND OF FISHING PATTERN, I THINK. HE LOVED TO FISH, AND AS A CHILD SHE WOULD GO WITH HIM. ANY ADVISE OR HELP WOULD BE SINCERELY APPRECIATED. |
There are some great blocks made to look like fish. It is a square on point if you use the search button up above you will find some great patterns.
(just an fyi caps are like yelling some are sensitive to it.) Welcome to our group! |
Hi glad to have you here. I think it is so special when someone makes a quilt out of a loved ones clothing!

HI welcome from Kentucky...I have made many memory quilts...you have a limited supply of most usable fabrics when cutting away the seams buttoms collars etc but also enough to do blocks of fish or individual blocks for scrappy quilts. There are great fish blocks, I have a few pics of them if you need them just PM me...Good Luck

I wish people didn't feel that way. I enjoy the larger type, makes it easier for me to read. Also, once in awhile I will use all caps in a word I want to emphasize. So, if I offend, sorry, but I will probably keep on doing it.

Welcome, that sounds like a lovely idea for a quilt.

Welcome from on the road, currently in Houston, TX on my way back to Detroit Sat, where its always sunny and dry. There's site called "quilter's cache" which has hundreds of block patterns.
Enjoy the fellowship as well as the wealth of information and socializing with quilting buddies. |
