Remember that the bar that sticks out goes around the screw that holds the needle in. Hope I described this okay for you.

If you can drop the feed dogs on your machine, that can help give you a little extra space for maneuvering the foot into place. Usually, with a walking foot, you have to experiment with angling the foot in order to slide the hook-arm over the needle-holding screw.

Slide it in from the back side

Its a 2 handed operation. take the shank off your machine that normally holds your regular feet. Then in your right hand pick up the walking foot putting the little bar that goes up and down on your thumb. Your thumb will hold it up in place when you go to mount it on the machine. Then using your other fingers lift the mechanism up that raises your foot, slide the walking foot on making sure the bar that is on your thumb is up on top of the screw and then tighten the foot into place. Let go of the thing that raises the foot and you should be in business. I hope that makes sense. Make sure you tighten it in place as several times during your sewing...walking feet tend to like to walk away....

Your manual should be able to help a lot. I have a Brother and my manual is quite specific. Your son should be able to help you figure it out. Good luck. Know how aggravating things can be.

my arm on my walking foot just lays on the top of my screw tightner for my needle. If the arm has a cut out on it, it slides with the screw tighter in the cut out.
I hope this helps!!!
