Hi Quilters, I made this quilt and love the way it looks, but I need help. Not sure on what to do on the quilting and what color of thread to use. I was thing about going around the stars but not sure what to do in the off white space. Then I was thinking of do a all over design. And the thread what color should I use? I was thinking of using a reddish pinkish color that the material is, but then in the off white should I use white or the same color. Please help me this is driving me crazy! Thanks labug

If you are a good quilter, the pinkish thread would look wonderful on the off white areas. Since I'm not good quilter, I'd match the thread to the area I was quilting to hide it as much as possible.

If I could quilt like I do in my dreams, I'd QID around all the stars and then do a great motif in each of the little pinkish squares using off white thread and in each of the off white squares using pinkish thread. Alas, this is a fantasy for now.

I would probably try a lighter colorthan your borders, etc. it will blend with them and not stand out so much on the lighter fabric, as to not detract from the great look of this quilt

Do you want the stitching to show? or just the texture? Contrast quilting like your pink on the background will show...ALOT. SO if you confident in your quilting abilities, go for it! In the busy areas like the borders or star centers? i would pick a tan or taupe. Don't worry much about those areas. You could do wonderful custom quilting and no one would be the wiser. I would suggest piano keys or bead board in the border. I will try to doodle some ideas..but no promises! lol I doodle with thread MUCH better than with a computer mouse or pencil!

This is a traditional design, so I'd quilt it traditionally. First SID around stars and diamonds. Then 1/4" in from the seams on stars and diamonds with a darker pink thread. In the light, a filler pattern with a light/md pink. In the borders, maybe a feather pattern of a simple loop and star meander in darker pink thread.

I would probably use a variegated red or pink thread. An overall design would work or you could go to Leah Day's website and find some filler designs for your blocks.

I'm all for the variegated thread in pink. Beautiful quilt! I love the floral material. Could you tell me what line that is from and possibly where you got it from? I really love it!!

I would use the color of the background material or a burgundy varigated thread. I love the layout.
