Need help
I’m making a baby s we quilt. It says to make the name, flower stems and leaves with heat and bond and zigzag or buttonhole the outer edges. The flowers are yo-yos. What I need to know is, do I hand sew the yo-yo flowers on the top before it’s quilted, quilting up to the yo-yo OR do I hand sew them on once the quilt is quilted?

Without seeing a picture, I would guess applique the yo-yo's on after quilting. I would use dental floss to sew them on - they won't come off!
|
I would quilt first then add yo-yos.

I do not ad anything to baby quilts that could be removed and cause a choking hazard. I would machine sew the yo-yo’s edges down with a machine stitches before quilting.

I just finished the top and have decided to sew yo-yo's after its quilted. I'm not adding buttons on my yo-yo as pattern suggest but I will be sewing the yo-yo's on by hand. I have enough trouble ripping something off so I'm not worried about a baby taking it off. If by some chance a stitch popped lose, I think a mom would get to the baby/child before he could get the whole yo-yo off to eat.
lol- A 'we' quilt is, me not proof reading, a smart phone's typing.-lol |
I sew around the yo yo when I quilt the quilt sandwich

Attachment 649770 I like how the yo yo puffs up when you sew around the edges.
