As I was roaming the "Pictures" section of this message board, I came across a quilt that someone made that I was very interested in trying.

I contacted the person who had made the quilt, but I never heard back from her. I think she does not come to the message boards that often. This is the link to the message board page that has the quilt that I am referring to.

the blocks look like they are four X variation blocks. At least that is what they are called in EQ7. very simple to make if you wanted to try them out.

You are right, it looks like it a bit... but for some reason it still looks different than the one that i posted a link to.

I like this pattern myself. I just bought the ruler to make it, now i just need to find more free time....too many irons in the fire!

The tube quilts (they look great too) after they are cut, look like 4 squares that are sewn back together to form the design.

The woman whose quilt I admire... hers looks rather like 4 triangles put back together to form the design that she made.

Ugh, am I making any sense... or am i just seeing things backwards? lollll

That does look like the tube block! I am working on one and all you did was sew 2 strips together then add a strip equal to the width of the 2 sewn together on top with right sides together then you cut them into angle. I did use the tut from missouri star quilt company I hope this helps....Jan

You are explaining it right...the video on missouri quilt shop tutorial is the one you want...you sew your strips together then cut them with a ruler that has a 60 degree line on it...here is both tutorials

You will get the same kind of quilt as you are talking about, it all depends how you sew your strip colors into strips

I am not an expert, but from looking at the blocks in the finished top, it looks like she took 3 strips (EX: red, white, & blue) the same width, sewed them together, Use the triangular ruler and cut two with the base of her ruler on the blue, then rotated the ruler so the base is on the red, then cut two of them. That will give you 4 triangles. Then joined these together to form the square. That gives you 2 small red points and 2 small blue points as your center of the block. The white is always in the middle so that forms the square of a solid color. Then you have 2 large red and 2 large blue strips for the outside of your block. Hope this makes sense. Sorry I don't have a camera, I can't post pictures.

I agree with one&only. It is made with three strips cut with a Companion Angle, Omni Angle or other triangular ruler alternating the cuts as shown in the videos but not made into tubes before cutting.

Those blocks are about as simple as you'll ever find. Simply piece three strips of fabric, cut a triangle bottom side down, then one bottom side up--adn repeat. That's one block.

Hmmm, that makes a lot of sense.
