Need ideas for fabrics for this project

My adult son wants and needs a new quilt. I'm going to use missouri star quilt company's disappearing hour glass pattern but would like a "manly" fabric line that includes greens and blues but can have other colors in smaller doses. He doesn't want it too bright or as dark as Jo morton's lines. Geometric and curves and leaves are fine but flowers not so much. Anyone have any ideas on fabric lines that might work for this project?

Have you thought about using solid color flannels? That's what I'm using (along with one plaid) for the quilt I'm currently working on for my oldest DS.

How about batiks? They will work in like tone on tone fabrics with dimension.

DHG is a great pattern for using fat quarters up. I would pick a background fabric, nothing too light as it is for a guy. I would then go through my dark fat quarters for manly prints or go through my LQS fat quarter shelf. A DHG in batiks was posted on QB and it was great.

Batiks are great for guys quilts. The pics in the link below will give you color and pattern ideas.

Batiks and plaids are what I use for the men in my life.

I made a Bargello quilt out of the Stonehenge line of fabrics - used creams and browns. That would work for you.

I've done several for my guys using recycled shirts and even Civil War fabrics (the darker ones).

Have you looked at Lotta Jansdotter fabrics? They are bold geometrics. Bypassing the brighter colors and floral motifs she has some slate, navy, jade colors that might work. Most of her lines can mix and match so you could choose the darker color ways. Echo, Glimma, Bella and Follie are the ones that come to mind.
