I have a very good friend who is going to be celebrating her 70th birthday in August does any one have any ideas what I can make for her that would not be a huge project. I just cannot find any ideas in any of my quilt books

My friend made me a shoulder warmer that I love. It is a 36" circle, she sewed a pretty narrow fringe around it. fold in half, cut 2 armholes approx. 18" apart in the middle, bind them. Slip arms thru and you have a cute little sleeveless jacket with a cape that covers your shoulders. I love mine. I will post picture when I get out to get Batteries as my camera takes better pics. than my cell does.

A table runner or table mat? Something seasonal? Or One seasonal, with a certificate for others through the year?

How 'bout a photo memory quilt? You'd need to collect some important photos of your friend's life and then have them copiedl/printed onto fabric rectangles. (There are several products and lots of websites that will help you do this). After that, it can be as simple as adding lattice and borders, then quilting and binding.

Thanks for the idea I have thought of that but after talking to her last week, her oldest son is going through a painful divorce so I don't think this is the time. I have wanted to try the photo quilt idea for a while though so maybe will try with some other idea.
