Need ideas

Good morning everyone. It's been a while since I have been able to log in but this is always my first place to go when I need help.. So here I am. I am looking for ideas for something I could make for the Wonderful nurses at my pulmonary specialist office. There are 5 ladies in the office and I want to make them each something individually. Any ideas would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You! Debbie

A mug rug with their name on it, rolled up and stuffed into a cute mug.

Thank You popover! I Love this idea.

I have never heard of that before!! This is a wonderful idea.

A fabric bowl filled with candy?

tessagin 01-20-2017 12:34 PM

Great ideas and quick to make, inexpensive and I'd be willing to bet they'll love it. You may want to make one for your specialist also.

tessagin, you are right, these are great ideas, and I certainly will make something for my Doctor also.

stethoscope wraps.

Cute little tote bags would be nice, so they can bring stuff to work.

I was going to say mug rugs. I LOVE the one my BFF made. I used it every day and think of her.

I agree with the mug rugs. I made 6 for my DIL for her pool ladies. They were a great hit. I just finished 2 with company logos on them to use at work.

A little snap purse would be good and it does not take a lot of time to make, you could make a set fairly fast,

I was going to suggest tote bags as well. The pattern I have made went together quickly and you may be able to use some of your scraps to make them

. I made some stethoscope wraps for my daughter who is an RN in the emergency room. For some reason they "powers that be" won't allow them. I don't remember why. So you may want to check the hospital policy on these first.

The stethoscope wrap is a infection control issue, it's not like you can wash them between patients. So many Dr office staff and nurses in general are inundated with candy for the holidays that we usually start out the new year on a diet. I think the mug rugs or the tote bag would be best. Personally my first thought was one of those adorable Loralie design panels for nurses, you could use that for the mug rug or the tote bag!

Those microwave bowls would be nice too. Office professionals often eat at their desk with interruptions. The bowl is easy to carry back to the desk, absorbs drips and keeps food warm a little longer.

mug rug , fabric bowl did this for friends they loved them . Hot soup just put your hot bowl of soup
in the fabric bowl and you can hold it.

Hi, I don't comment much either when I can get on. Another suggestion might be to make a stethoscope cover. I saw a pattern at Simplicity or McCalls. A mug holder that fits around their cup and keeps it warm/cold; a simple bag with nursing motif might be fun. Love the mug rug and fabric bowl idea; or you could make a microwave bowl with ALL cotton thread, fabric and no scrim cotton batting.

Gotta laugh, as I typed the stethoscope cover a little voice said: NO! germs. LOL and by the time I finished typing, you all had commented. Love this site for help.

How about those infinity scarves. Here's one version I found: http://thediymommy.com/sew-a-15-minute-infinity-scarf/. I've seen them in minky as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcdhXZkJFqw).

If any of them sew, a "Bah,Humbug bag is a wonderful gift.

maryellen2u 01-22-2017 05:14 PM

Do they wear scrubs? Can you make a scrub top? Or give a gift card to a scrub store. I like all the previous ideas. My son is a doctor. He is so fussy but I think I might make him a thermal lunch bag. It would be fun to search for some
"manly" fabric.

red-warrior 01-22-2017 05:50 PM

I got a cute 9 patch bowl made with 5 inch squares and lined with a coordinating print. My friend made one for each member of our quilt group for Christmas. She filled them with homemade fudge and Christmas candies. We all loved them! Shamrock of our QB made them.

I'll look into those. Thank You.
