I've been requested to make a quilt with only yellow and beige for the colors, preferable pastels and solids only (very tiny prints and a little darker colors if I have to).

Those colors don't have much contrast and also this is to be a summer quilt with no batting so I'm hesitant to do anything with a lot of seams that can possibly show through. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, I really need help!

Wow that is a tough request. I could see myself getting bored with that very fast. Do you by any chance have the book Quilts! quilts!! quilts!!! There is a very nice monochromatic star quilt pictured there in all beiges. It was done with all sawtooth stars (AKA Variable Stars) and I think some squares. Something like that may work.

I saw a log cabin quilt done in two very sublte colors, if I had not seen it I would have thought "boring" . It was really really beautiful in its simplicity. The quilting that was done was what gave it the pizzaz. Wish I could give you a photo but it was at International and no photos where allowed of this quilt.
Just a suggestion : use muslin in place of batting , it will give a little more "structure" without adding much for warmth.

Thanks to both of you, at least there's hope

I just google images for monochromatic quilts and got pages and pages of hits. I don't know if this link will work but this is kind of cute wallhanging done in yellows and creams.

I was in a LQS recently when a lady came in with the bargello quilt she was working on. It was done in shades of pale cream and beige - all tone on tones, and was actually quite stunning. I think something like that would work very well for your limited color palette.

There are so a many shades of light yellow and light beige you can't get bored. I love these two colors together. It's the color scheme of my main living area in my house.

I really appreciate the input because she wants it for her bed (I don't want to make something and then have her toss it in the back of her closet because it doesn't look pretty).

BellaBoo, if these are the main colors in your living area it must work.

Thanks ladies, I should have asked for help sooner rather than worrying about it!

Can you use more than one shade of yellow? I think it could be pretty if there were a number of shades of the same color.

Yes, and I received some lovely Banana Kona Cotton from Michelle (mlaceruby) . I have different yellows and beiges but they're not playing well together. Maybe I need to put it all aside and look again later?

Second ds-i-l wants a small throw with any yellows and that's easy! Third ds-i-l says any color any pattern she'll love anything I make her, super easy peasy! Just this one isn't. :(
